In my life up until this present day, I have struggled with anxiety. When I was younger, I didn’t understand it. I became quiet, reserved, and introverted as a result. When I grew up and went to college, I still carried that anxiety with me. I eventually started to use various vices to cope. One day after deep reflection, I came to realize that I had developed a lot of bad habits to cope with anxiety. I began to look for healthier coping methods and found meditation.
Meditation has many benefits. It can transform your life. In the beginning, when I first started. I would bring awareness to negative thoughts when I had them. Then let the thoughts go and add more positive ones. The next method was to bring awareness to the “in and out” breath. Or become aware of your breathing, especially during times of discomfort. When you meditate, you begin to connect to yourself, your true Self. You become more aware of your surroundings and start to notice and appreciate the small things in life. The most important work you will ever do in your life is the work you do on the Self. During this work on yourself, you start to develop true love. The kind of love that is unconditional. The love that doesn’t need anything in return and that cares for all people.
We now have a lot of time on our hands for introspection. It’s easy to run away from our problems. At some point, we have to stop running and face those problems. Take a look inside yourself past all the pain, mistreatment, and insecurities. Then connect with the love that is there. That is your true Self. You have to search and find it. You have to do the work to build yourself up. Once you establish that love connection with yourself, you will realize that you are so much more than your current circumstances. I believe in you. Decide to believe in yourself. Until next time, be enriched with blessings and inspiration. Be you. Be great.
